We recently stayed at a lovely and cozy cottage in a charming village. The accommodation was larger than expected and beautifully decorated, retaining its character charm. The cottage was immaculately clean and had all the necessary amenities. Its location was excellent, allowing us to easily explore Matlock, Bakewell, Buxton, and Chatsworth House. The owner provided helpful information prior to our stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend getaway at this charming period property. The cottage was beautifully decorated and furnished, and we were welcomed with a bottle of wine, fresh coffee, and a bowl of chocolates. The beds, chairs, and sofa were all very comfortable, making it easy for us to relax and unwind. The host was also very responsive, answering all our questions promptly and providing helpful recommendations for places to visit and eat nearby.
The only downside of this property was its location on a busy main road. Although Church Street itself was quiet, the main road was quite noisy.

The location was perfect for exploring the beautiful peak district and enjoying scenic walks right from our doorstep. The cottage itself was clean, welcoming, and felt like a home away from home. The shower was excellent, and we loved being able to light up the pre-made fire and relax in the cozy lounge after a long day of walking. The nearby Gate pub served fantastic food, and the comfortable beds ensured a restful night's sleep. The heating in the cottage was brilliant and kept us nice and cozy. We're already planning our next visit!
While our stay was perfect, it would have been nice to have a few more dinner plates to minimize the washing up. Additionally, the early morning traffic sounds from the front of the cottage were a bit bothersome.

The breakfast selection could use a bit more variety to make it even better, but overall, it was still a great experience.

I had a wonderful stay at One Church Street in Matlock. The communication from Martin was fantastic, and he provided us with great recommendations for things to do in the area. The location of the cottage was perfect, and there was plenty of space on the lower floor with two sitting rooms. I loved the little touches such as the wine and chocolates left for us, and the house was well stocked with supplies. The beds were large and comfortable, and everything was very clean. The kitchen had all the necessary amenities, including a coffee machine with beans. The shower was also excellent, providing a good amount of water. The central dining room with the cozy armchairs was my favorite spot, but having the option of two log burners in different rooms was a nice touch. The village itself is great for walks, and there are two pubs within walking distance. I had a fantastic time and would definitely stay here again.

Immaculately clean and well-equipped cottage, perfect for a city break. The location was great, with lots of sites nearby to explore. The complimentary bottle of wine was a nice touch.
The central heating was difficult to figure out, and there were no instructions for overriding the system. The road noise in the front bedroom was bothersome, especially for someone accustomed to living in a quiet area.

The decor and layout of the house were absolutely delightful, and we instantly felt at home. The well-equipped kitchen and immaculate cleanliness were impressive. We were even greeted with a bottle of red wine and sherry in the master bedroom, such a thoughtful touch! The Sri Lankan takeaway was a culinary highlight, and we can't wait to dine in next time we visit. The cottage had a perfect mix of modern comfort and traditional charm, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. The wine and chocolates left for us made us feel so welcomed. The location was ideal for exploring the Matlock area, and the owners had thought of everything we could possibly need. We only wish we could have stayed longer than one night. we highly recommend One Church Street for a fantastic getaway.
The only minor downside was the potential for some noise at night due to the proximity to the main road, but earplugs easily solved this issue. Also, parking on the street near the property might require a bit of searching, but we managed to find a spot within 100 yards.
